Yom Kippur, also known as the Day of Atonement, is the holiest day of the year. On this day, we fast and beseech God to forgive us and grant us a healthy and prosperous year. Many people wear white clothing on this day as a symbol of starting the year with a clean slate. The white color also represents the purity of the angels, with whom we are compared as we fast and abstain from other physical and pleasurable activities.
