Information for parents of a daughter
The father of the newborn can continue the tradition of having his daughter receive her name in the synagogue, accompanied by a festive Misheberach (prayer for a prosperous recovery) for the mother and daughter. If desired, as parents, grandparents, etc., you can also offer a Kiddush. Please contact us for further details.

Pidyon HaBen
After the birth of a firstborn son from the mother, the mitzvah of Pidyon HaBen is fulfilled after one month, which involves redeeming your son. It is a joyous ritual where you "redeem" your son from a Kohen, a descendant of the priestly family of Aharon. Special coins are required for this, and, of course, a Kohen must be present. Rabbi Simcha Steinberg will gladly advise you on the associated traditions.
